Wiki's are great fun. It's I edited or added to the Vermont's 23 Things Wiki at PBWiki and Wetpaint. Wetpaint is very easy to use though in many ways both remind me of simple word processing software. As long as you know Windows, it's easy.
I must I find myself intriqued with wiki's. I printed pages from several I found to use in managing the library such as Tips/Successful Models for Weeding Library Collections.

Wikis
I would love to create a wiki with reviews of new books we get in. Trouble is finding the time to write them. I found many wiki's for librarians extremely helpful.
I frequently use wikipedia for research but keep in mind you never know who last edited it.

Web 2.0 & Library 2.0
This is a very exciting time to be in the library business. I was an IT person for 20 years and am now becoming a librarian. I can see many ways for libraries to change.
There are several problems for small rural libraries however. One is lack of high speed access for patrons at home, many elderly do not have or have difficulty learning to use computers and last lack of staff time to develop web access. As Anderson mentions in "Away from Icebergs" there will be a reliance on user education. We do not have the staff to train all users. Neither do we have the staff with the knowledge to use and or setup Instant Messaging, build Weblogs or wikis which Stephens mentions in "Into a new world of librarianship.
None of these problems are insurmountable but will slow the pace of progress.

Technocrati
I just looked at this website and did a search for library cleaning. I got 6,725 results many of which seemed irrelevant. When I did the same search in Google I got 1,200,000 results and the first few pages were relevant. I tried the URL search for my log and got the following response - 0 blog reactions to http://greensborofree.blogspot.com/

Renovation project
Things are really coming. This week we started to think about what furniture needed to get purchased. In addition, the electricians are started to put in the wiring. The new heating system is being installed. (It doesn't feel like it today since the wind is blowing hard and the temperature is only 50 despite the thermostats being set to 70.)
Anyway, it really looks like it's really happening. Now we're making decisions almost daily on what is needed and what it will look like. Another month and we might even start moving books!

del.icio.us
Here's my link to del.icio.us - http://del.icio.us/greensborofree. I've shared and tagged several of my favorites. I'm finding this really interesting. I was very interested in how other libraries used del.icio.us. It seemed to be a real mixed bag. Some used it for news and other announcements and others used it as a basic web page.
It will take practice to remember to use it for research as most of us are used to going to Google or another search engine but I can see the advantage to using tags.

Library Thing
What a great place to look to see how others feel about books! I can easily see using it the next time I do a book order to learn which best sellers are worth buying. My user id is greensborofreelib.

Image generators
Image generators are great fun! I could have spent hours deciding which ones to use. As it was I figured out how to create one in Yahoo Avatar. Now I want to try a text generator. Once more, I could spend hours playing on the computer and not getting critical work done. The problem of being an experimenter!
